For the past couple of years, the Swell Crew have sent “Swell Care Packages” to movement organizers, our co-conspirators in the #leadwithlove and #goodgrows movement. Building strong community via shared vision, trust and care fuels the work of the community change we seek.

With your help, we can reach way more community organizers this year and infuse the movement with the positive momentum of genuine appreciation of each other. Naturally, there is a ton yet to do, but we single out women, and women of color in particular, to give special thanks for their selfless contributions. Help us reach more leaders! Your contribution 1) covers shipping, 2) underwrites some bulk purchases we make with vetted sustainable businesses, and 3) supports the logistics of securing donations, creating upcycled goods and packing. Help us celebrate the movement’s unsung heroes! Since 2016, scores of community organizers have been hard at work. Some of us had already been at it for a time, some of us are new to this level of civic engagement and community organizing. ALL OF US will be tremendously busy and for anyone paying attention, we will be riding another emotional roller coaster all the way to January 20, 2021. We are sending “Swell Care” packages to movement organizers who may not be household names but who have nevertheless persisted! They have been dedicating themselves tirelessly to positive community change and we want them to know how much they are appreciated.

Inside of a medium or large flat rate box (all depends on the goodies some donations are funny sizes!), we pack a number of carefully curated gifts, hand selected or created by our Swell Crew and/or donated by community businesses and other organizations that walk their talk.  Each box is unique but usually is packed with enough goodies that would retail for $50 – $75 at least! The theme around which each box is built is “Swell Care” –  items in the box support the self-care and wellbeing of the recipient AND the community they represent and work in. An example of what have been included in past boxes:

  • Teas
  • Books
  • Journals
  • Coloring Books
  • Intention Setting Kits
  • Candles
  • Upcycled and sustainably manufactured crafts
  • Custom art
  • Sea-safe skin care products
  • more and more fun stuff all the time!

Your contribution to this project will help us recognize the hard work of change-agents we have been watching kick ass all year. Most of these folks dont do the work for any sort of recognition but we want them to know they are appreciated and that it is perfectly acceptable to center their own wellness too! There have been hours and hours of unpaid work by movement organizers, so many women, so many women of color, and we want to do this one small thing to show how much they mean to our communities.
